This Sunday the lectionary presents to us the story of the King’s whose invitation is rejected by those who were supposed to come and whose invitation was accepted by those who had no right to be on the invitation list. The title of my sermon is “Life on the D List” and I will be talking about the great hospitality of God that welcomes those who have no right to be included. God’s great invitation is for all. Thus you and I need to extend the invitation to all and be about the work of messengers of this great Gospel of grace. I look forward to sharing this with you.
Thanks to Pastor Gary Morgan-Gohlke for presiding and preaching this past Sunday. I have heard all went extremely well. We are most fortunate to have him and his wife, Carol, as members of Peace.
We have some important happenings at Peace.
On next Sunday, Oct 19 at our 11:00 service during communion we will be offering a healing ministry by inviting those who wish to have the ritual of anointing. This ministry is not about invoking a ‘supernatural’ healing, but to affirm God’s spiritual, emotional and physical healing in our lives. We hope that this will become a ‘station of comfort’ for you. On this Sunday we will also have an inquiry meeting for all those interested in Peace. If you would like to learn more or have a friend who might be interested, invite them to this meal and conversation.
On Sunday Oct 26 will be Reformation Sunday and we invite everyone to wear red. We will also be celebration first communion and those who have completed communion instruction. We will also be having a potluck and watching a movie about Martin Luther in the fellowship hall. We will also begin learning a new liturgy at the 8:30 service by Marty Haugen called, “Now the Feast and Celebration” This service is very popular in many churches and we look forward to “Spirit of Peace” teaching us this uplifting music.
We will have an Education Ministry Workshop on Oct 25 from 8:30-12:00.This is open to everyone interested in improving our Christian education for Adults and Children. Please come if you can.
Of course, begin looking forward to the Bazaar on November 1. It promises to be a lot of fun.
See you on Sunday,
Pastor Tart
